I did a study on the brain last summer that was amazing. the link for it is http://modeletics.blogspot.com/2008/08/brain-overview.html

One of the interesting things I learned about was how long we have to make a decision…

When we have a stimulus (or thought) come in from one of our five senses we have what is called a feed back loop in our brain. The Cortex is the THINKING half of your brain and the Amygdala is the EMOTIONAL (unaware/non thinking) part of your brain. When something first happens (example: get shocked when you get out of the car) your thoughts start going through feed back loops. The first loop is just the thought, the second loop is how you feel, and the third is those two tied to a memory. I may be wrong about the specifics, but this is where it gets really interesting. If you don’t make a conscious, intentional decision about how you feel about what happen WITHIN 72 hrs your cortex (thinking half your brain) burns that thought off as heat energy. The cortex is all about thinking and will burn off thoughts that aren’t profitable for thinking.

What happens now is crazy….the feedback loops that went through the thought, emotion, and memory are tied together to make a chemical that is sent to your heart. Your heart is the main artery in your body. Your heart has an intellect

Conclusion…You could let something about how you feel burn off as heat energy and not store it away in your cortex, but have your amygdala (unaware brain) and your heart, and the rest of the cells in your body know how you feel about it. When we see people that are totally chill and the just freak out and not know why, it is usually an effect of their amygdala setting off.

TAKE THE TIME TO MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT HOW YOU FEEL!

thanks so much for the responses about my idea with getting ivory going again. I have so much music that no one has heard i think it'd be a shame not to keep ivory going. Fotograph is something i'll still continue to do but i'll be doing Ivory full time here in a little bit to get this album and an ep out. For now i'll leave you with two beautiful fotos as i'm working on the ivory myspace and all ins and outs of the process. love you all

Last Friday I took the new "lightrail" they have here into Phoenix and did this art walk they have every first Friday of the month. It was really nice. I love to be around people...need to be. There was music all around if you just had time to look for it. Some of you know what I mean.

The Rouge in Temp= sweet dance parties

The Stray Cat=free budlight and whiskey and cokes on tuesdays 830-930

Our friend Sarah from Seattle who use to live here introduce me to "green" a vegan restaurant (makes me feel healthy)

Then tonight I went out with Trey and Ryan and Sean from This Century to Casey Moores. It reminded me of the French Bistro I worked for in Brooklyn...very nice

So i leave Tuesday to finally go visit the fam in the tundra (WI) I didn't get a chance to go home for t day or xmas so i'm super pumped to freeze my ass off and have a cheep beer with my brothers.

However before I leave I'm demoing four songs for a label that I'm super interested in. Things are looking up I think I'm finally starting to come out of my writing block.

Anyway...late night rambling now.

p.s. I gave plasma for money today...best idea ever

I have so much to thank the boys in The Maine, and the boys in This Century for helping me out. I've had writers block like crazy since I moved here to the desert. I felt literally insane for a couple of weeks and I haven't been able to sleep much or finish any songs. Moving from NYC to Tempe, AZ was a tough transition but because of the AMAZING AMAZING PEOPLE out here i've been able to at least have a mental breakthrough in the way I think about music. I'm hoping to be writing a lot of songs now and be able to connect with all YOU WONDERFUL people.

BAND OF THE WEEK:

BON IVER check him out. he's what's happening right now in my life.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the comments. I'm still new to this whole Buzznet thing but i'll get the hang of it soon and will be updating a lot with videos and pictures...to the point of annoyance haha. A little heads up on fotograph. I can't keep the name which is lame but i'll be switching everything over the "nathaniel wayne" soon and i'll make it as easy as i can for everyone on myspace. That's why i started this site as nathaniel wayne. Anyway. I'm working on a ton of music writing now. Writing and demoing with a lot of musicians here in Arizona. And yes one of them is Trey (Garrett's Brother). He's awesome.

It's Alright will be on Itunes in about a month. So look out for that around March. I'm also working on a way that anyone that new about Ivory can get all of those songs for super cheap. Ok now that we got all of that intro stuff out of the way.

I've been really digging the new Killers record. I really like Brandon Flowers. I read an article about him in SPIN the other day and he's awesome! He's a dreamer for sure. I've been working at PEI WEI which sucks. I'm working on getting a new job. any ideas let me know. What are all of you listening to? Any new bands I should know about?

Ok take care
